Sun’s Out Fun’s Out: Going Big In Spring

As warmer weather approaches, I tend to shed my pragmatic, minimalist style tendencies and trade them in for bold colors and boisterous patterns. Fire-engine red? Yellow as bright as the sun? Don’t mind if I do.

Swinging to the opposite end of the style pendulum is sometimes exactly what I need to reinvigorate my fashion sensibilities for spring. And if you find your style a little sleepy as spring approaches, perhaps a maximalist approach might help inspire something new! Time to go big!

Cropped Red Denim

This Cropped Denim Jacket in a rich, fire-engine red brings immediate energy. It’s the kind of piece that flips a minimalist wardrobe on its head—in the best way. The bold color signals change, play, and confidence, especially as we move into spring. It’s like your wardrobe is waking up after hibernation. Plus, the cropped cut keeps it modern and intentional, not costume-y. You’re not just throwing on color—you’re curating it.

Pairing it with distressed light wash jeans creates that perfect high-low contrast: the clean, structured lines of the jacket against the rugged, broken-in feel of the denim. The lighter wash grounds the bold jacket and gives your look visual texture. It’s like color theory meets street style.

A white tank underneath adds subtle color blocking that breaks up the red without fighting for attention. It creates breathing room and highlights the jacket’s cropped fit even more. It also gives a nod to simplicity, an important factor when your outer layer is doing most of the talking.

And those comfy sneakers? They tie it all together with approachability. You’re not just making a statement—you’re living in it. The whole look says, “I’m bold, but I’m not trying too hard. I’m still grounded, still me.”

Marshmallows, Sprinkles, and Sunshine

This slightly oversized camp-style shirt brings instant ease to a look—it drapes well, moves with you, and doesn’t try too hard. The playful pattern—a mix of black, white, and yellow that looks like a mashup of marshmallows and candied sprinkles—leans into the spirit of spring: fun, unexpected, and a little nostalgic. Because the print is loud and the shape is relaxed, the key to making the whole outfit feel balanced is pairing it with something more structured and streamlined.

Enter: the sleek jersey pencil skirt. Its clean lines and close fit create contrast against the shirt’s looseness, pulling the whole outfit into focus. Tucking the shirt (or even doing a half-tuck) and layering it over a fitted bodysuit adds subtle structure and lets you play with proportions without losing polish. It’s the kind of springtime outfit that feels spontaneous but still pulled together—just the right mix of laid-back and intentional.

Neon Lime Coveralls

The sleeveless high-waisted coverall is a masterclass in utility meeting style. With its sharp tailoring and functional edge, it’s the kind of piece that pulls a look together in seconds while still giving you room to move—literally and stylistically. The high-waisted cut and back elastic waistband define your shape without clinging, while the sleeveless silhouette keeps things cool, modern, and perfect for layering. Practical details like a snap neck closure, front zipper, deep side and back pockets, and reinforced knee panels make it feel ready for anything—errands, drinks, travel, you name it. The two-button adjustable waist lets you personalize the fit, giving you the flexibility to style it your way.

Now, let’s talk color. Neon lime isn’t just bold—it’s a full reset button for your fall wardrobe. If you’ve been leaning into a neutral, minimalist palette, this is your electric jolt. The vibrant hue instantly energizes your look, bringing fresh contrast to deeper tones like black, navy, or charcoal. Its boldness adds a pop of fun, making even the most utilitarian piece feel playful. Paired with a classic silhouette, neon lime doesn’t scream for attention—it demands it, adding an element of confidence and excitement that shifts your whole vibe. It turns the coverall from a simple, functional piece into an instant standout, effortlessly elevating your style while keeping it grounded in wearability.

Go Big

As the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time to shake things up and add some bold colors and fun patterns to your wardrobe. Whether it's the fiery red of a cropped denim jacket, the playful vibe of a camp-style shirt, or the pop of neon lime in a coverall, these pieces bring a fresh energy to your style. They’re all about bringing your look to life while keeping it easy and wearable—because why not have fun with fashion? It’s about finding that sweet spot between comfort and self-expression, and honestly, these pieces are the perfect way to do it. After all, style should feel as lighthearted and spontaneous as the season itself.

And hey, if you’re feeling a little lost in terms of style inspiration, why not try something new? Step outside your usual comfort zone and reach for something brighter than you normally would. It might just be the thing to help you recalibrate to the perfect balance of bold and wearable, and you may just discover a new favorite look in the process.
